Read questions carefully – students often do not even answer the question asked.
Double-check your first part of the question. Many marks will be lost when the answer to the first part of the question is needed for the continuation of the question.
The length of the answers required can be gauged by the marks allotted to the question.
Be careful of the words ‘hence’ or ‘deduce’ in a question. If either of these words appear in a question it means that you must use the previous result to continue. Using some other technique will get you no marks. However ‘hence or otherwise’ will allow you to proceed in any way you prefer.
Draw large and clear diagrams whenever possible.
Distinguish carefully between a sketch and a graph. A sketch does NOT need to be accurately drawn on graph paper.
A three-hour paper is hard work – so do work as many past papers as you can under examination conditions.
